In Foundations of Educational Theory for Online Learning, Mohamed Ally argues that no one school of thought on learning is used exclusively in online design, and that an online developer must know the different approaches to learning in order to select the appropriate instructional strategies (p. 6). What do you think of this claim?
Ally goes on to says that "Learning strategies should be selected to motivate learners, facilitate deep processing, build the whole person, cater for individual differences, promote meaningful learning, encourage interaction, provide feedback, facilitate contextual learning, and provide support during the learning process.” I agree with Ally regarding his learning strategies. Learner need to be motivated, and in order to stay motivated it is important to create strategies that appeal to all types of learners. You need to make sure that the message is understood by everyone in your audience. I know that in order to achieve this takes a lot of ingenuity on the part of the developer but it also allows for a richer online experience for the learner.

Three things about me:
1. I love to read.
2. I lived in Miami, Florida 30 years before moving to Boston.
3. I love cold weather.
I decided to take this course because I have been exposed to the traditional classroom all my school career. I wanted to know if I can learn in an online environment just as much as a traditional classroom. I also wanted to take this course because I want to know what is required to create a conduct a successful online course.
